Lilly D. Henderson

Canandaigua resident

Lilly D. Henderson, 89, of Canandaigua, died Dec. 13, 2004 at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua. She was born the daughter of George and Lily Ashdown Dennis on Nov. 14, 1915 in Mt. Kisko, N.Y. She was predeceased by her husband Ronald Karley in 1955. She is survived by her children, Dennis (Katherine) Karley of Canandaigua, Kathleen (Michael) Morrissey of Livonia, Erick (Janet) Karley of Ohio; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. No prior calling. Friend wishing may attend a memorial service Friday, Dec. 31 at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc. at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Morrissey officiating. Friends wishing may make memorial contributions to the New Hope Fellowship Fundamental Church 6383-1 Cleary Road in Livonia.

Helen M. Kimber

Honeoye resident

Helen M. Kimber, 88, of Honeoye, died Dec. 16, 2004 at the Episcopal Church Home in Rochester. She was born the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Shaddock on Nov. 9, 1916 in Rochester. She was a member of the Eastern Star chapter in Honeoye and the Honeoye United Church of Christ. She was predeceased by her husband Clarence. She is survived by her son Clarence (Elaine) Kimber of Geneseo; grandchildren, Kathleen (Artie) Kimber-Dietschler of Rochester and Thomas (Karin) Kimber of Morrisville; great granddaughter, Hope Kimber. Friends called Monday at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 8796 Briggs St. in Honeoye. Her service was held Tuesday at the Honeoye United Church of Christ with Rev. Brian Krause officiating. Friends wishing may make memorial contributions to the Church or to the Honeoye Easter Star.

Dale R. Roets

Past fire chief

Livonia/Lakeville - Dale R. Roets, 51, died Dec. 17, 2004 after a long battle with cancer. He was born the son of Melvin and Eleanor Roets Hummel on May 24, 1953 in Rochester. He was a Water Plant Operator for the City of Rochester at the Hemlock Water Plant Facility. Dale was a members of the Lakeville Fire Department for over 25 years where he was a past fire chief and safety officer. He was predeceased by his father Melvin Hummel. He is survived by his mother, Eleanor Hummel; brothers, Alan Roets, John (Beth) Hummel; close long time friends, Peg Roets and John Myers; adopted son Edward Stade; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, stepdaughters, grandchildren and a godchild. Friends called Sunday at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., Route 15 in Livonia. His Funeral Mass was held Monday at St. Matthew Church, Route 20A in Livonia with the Rev. John Hayes officiating. Burial, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Geneseo. Friends wishing may make memorial contributions to the Lakeville Fire Department, P.O. Box 376, Lakeville NY 14480.

Rita Schwan

Teacher

Rita M. Pirrung Schwan, 86, recently of 5845 West Lake Road, Conesus and formerly of Dansville, passed away Dec. 13, 2004 at the Vincent House Comfort Care Facility in Wayland. Rita was born May 19, 1918 in East Springwater, the daughter of Fred and Clara (Vogt) Pirrung. Rita resided the early years of her life in the Wayland area and she graduated from Wayland Central School. Subsequent to high school, Rita attended the Normal School in Geneseo (currently known as SUNY Geneseo). She achieved a degree in education. In June 1941 Rita and Rodney Schwan entered into a loving marriage. Together they celebrated approximately 48 years of marriage prior to his passing away in 1989. Together Rita and Rodney spent many years in the Dansville area and upon retirement they enjoyed spending winters in Boynton Beach, Fla. and the summers at Conesus Lake. Rita's goal and passion in life was to teach children. She accomplished her goal as evidenced by spending her entire employment career as a teacher. Rita was a substitute teacher at the Old Sawdust School in Wayland and prior to retirement, she enjoyed over 25 years as a kindergarten teacher at St. Mary's School in Dansville. Many children have benefited from Rita's dedication and passion to teaching. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Dansville for the majority of her life and through the later years she was a communicant of St. William's Church in Conesus. Rita was predeceased by her husband Rodney Schwan; her brothers, Victor Pirrung and Fred Pirrung Jr.; and her sister, Edna Larrin. She is survived by her son John Schwan and his wife Carolyn of Conesus Lake; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Schwan (Shari Ramos) of Lowville, N.Y., Eric (Christine) Schwan of Texas and Matthew (Denise) Schwan of Conesus; three great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. Family and friend called Thursday at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 W., Naples St. in Wayland. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Rita Friday at St. Mary's Church in Dansville. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery in Dansville. Contributions in Rita M. Schwan's memory may be made to St. Mary's School, 43 Elizabeth St., Dansville NY 14437 or to the Vincent House, 310 Second Ave., Wayland NY 14572.
