Ruth Constantine

Security Trust Bank retiree

Ruth Constantine, 97, of 26 Murray St. in Mt. Morris, died Oct. 12, 2003 at the Livingston County Campus Skilled Nursing Facility in Mt. Morris. She was born the daughter of Francesco and Carrie (Barone) Constantine on March 2, 1906 in Mt. Morris. Prior to her retirement in 1971 she was employed as a secretary at Security Trust Bank in Mt. Morris for over 41 years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the Rosary Society. She is survived by her sister Carolyn Bonafede of Dansville; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary and Clementine; and brothers, Frank, Charles and John. Friends called Tuesday at the John W. Martin Funeral Home, 37 Chapel St., Mt. Morris where prayers were said Wednesday followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Patrick's Church in Mt. Morris with the Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Burial, St. Patrick's Cemetery. Patricia M. Downey

Patricia M. Downey, 62, of 2514 Tree Crossings Parkway, Birmingham, Ala., formerly of Mt. Morris, died suddenly Sept. 3, 2003 at Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. She was born the daughter of Carroll W. and Mary (Curtis) Downey Sr. in Mt. Morris. She was employed at Birdseye General Foods in Avon prior to her retirement. She was predeceased by her parents Carroll W. and Mary C. Downey Sr.; brothers, Leo F. and Carroll W. Jr. She is survived by her children, Lore (Vince) DiSalvo of Avon, Jeff Richardson of Fla., Stephan (Terri) Richardson of Rochester, Jim (Kelly), Melissa and Patrick (Kari) Richardson, all of Texas; grandchildren, Chase, Jonathan, Erica, Peter, Brianna, Benjamin, Abigail, Grace and Maximus Richardson; brother Richard (Wendy) Downey of Nunda; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. John C. Elardo

A & P retiree

John C. Elardo, 92, of 23 Hopkins St., Mt. Morris, died Oct. 10, 2003 at the Livingston County Campus Skilled Nursing Facility in Mt. Morris. He was born the son of Samuel and Ann (Liberti) Elardo on Oct. 18, 1910 in Angola, N.Y. Prior to his retirement in 1968 he worked as a Supervisor at Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company in Buffalo for 41 years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society in Mt. Morris. He is survived by his son John F. (Carol) Elardo of DePew; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Pecerno of Blazdale, Ann Vacanti of Angola; two sisters-in-law, Mary Elardo of Angola and Marie Elardo of Hamburg; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Sabatina in 2003 and daughter Anna Marie Morris in 1998. Friends called Sunday at the John W. Martin Funeral Home, 37 Chapel St. (Route 408), Mt. Morris where prayers were said Monday followed by a funeral mass at St. Patrick's Church with the Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Interment, Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Buffalo. Keith E. Marshall

Keith E. Marshall, 66, died suddenly on Oct. 8, 2003. He was born the son of Michael and Ardeth Doe Marshall on March 24, 1937 in Rochester. He was retired from Griffith Oil Company. He was an avid hunter and was on an actual hunt in New Brunswick, Ontario, Canada where he died of a heart attack. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judy; daughter Vicki (Gary) Simpson; sons, Jeff (Theresa) Marshall, Brad (Leigh) Marshall; grandchildren, Rory, Brent and Adam Simpson, Connor and Mackenzie Marshall, Jack, Colby and Tyler Marshall; brother Mike (Janet) Marshall; nephew Mike (Patty) Marshall; nieces, Karen (Art) Bernecker, Molly (Greg) Berger. Friends called Sunday at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., Route 15 in Livonia where Funeral Services were held Monday. Burial, Union Cemetery, Livonia. Catherine M. Perhamus

Retired teacher

Catherine M. Perhamus, 89, of Caledonia, died Oct. 10, 2003. She was born May 26, 1914 in Rochester to John and Lucy (Stinson) MacLarty. Catherine attended the Geneseo Normal School and earned her Lifetime Teaching Certificate. She earned her B.S. from the University of Rochester, and her Master's degree from SUNY Brockport. Catherine was a retired teacher from LeRoy Central Schools. She was a member of the N.Y. S. Teachers NEA, Delta Kappa Gamma-Beta Alpha Chapter, International Honorary Society for teachers, and the former president of her chapter. Catherine was also a member of of the First Presbyterian Church, Caledonia. She is survived by her children, Charles “Harlow” (Donna) Perhamus of Rhode Island, Karen (Bill) McQuilkin of Caledonia, John (Duannah) Perhamus of Canandaigua, Frank Perhamus of Florida, Robert (Judy) Perhamus of Caledonia; 10 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Betty (Everett) Herman of Webster, June Smith of Florida, Mary Elizabeth Blaese of Honeoye Falls; brother, Donald (Ruth) MacLarty of Rochester; sister-in-law, Alice MacLarty of Webster; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service, Wednesday, 3:30 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 3080 W. Main St., Caledonia. A private interment at Mumford Rural Cemetery will be held. Richard M. Schlegel

RG&E retiree

Richard M. Schlegel, 86, currently a resident of the King's Daughters' Home in Dansville and formerly of 223 Lincoln St., Wayland, passed away Oct. 6, 2003 at Nicholas H. Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. Richard was born March 2, 1917 in East Rochester, the son of Clarence and Leanna (Marshall) Schlegel. He resided most of his life in and around the Walworth area. In 1949, Richard and Alice fox entered into a loving marriage in Ontario, N.Y. They spent many happy years together. He was employed for over 35 years as a draftsman at the Rochester Gas and Electric Company in Rochester. Subsequent to his retirement in 1979, they moved to different areas in Florida. Most of their time spent in Florida was in Leesburg. Following Alice's passing away in 1994, Richard moved to Wayland to be closer to his daughter Kathy. Throughout his life, Richard was very active in community organizations. They included the Walworth Volunteer Fire Department; Masonic Ledge #1180 in Macedon; he was a volunteer at Noyes Memorial Hospital where he could be seen giving patients and visitors directions, and a meals on wheels volunteer. A proud activity for Richard at the King's Daughters' Home was that he took charge of the birthday celebrations for the last couple of years. Without a doubt he will be missed by his family and friends. He was predeceased by both of his parents and his wife Alice. He is survived by his two daughters, Kathy Grasby and her husband Michael of Wayland and Ann Whittleton of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; his six grandchildren, Sherry, Brian and Jennifer Kirstein, Marshall (Mary) Whittleton, Marcie (Tony) Millettlo, and Mark (Cindy) Whittleton; and his two great grandchildren, Elijah Goodman and Amanda Whittleton. Funeral Service will be conducted at the convenience of his family at the King's Daughters' Home in Dansville. Contributions in Richard M. Deane C. Vedder

Deane C. Vedder, 69, of 4710 Scottsburg Road, Groveland, died Oct. 12, 2003 at Highland Hospital in Rochester. He was born on June 23, 1934 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. the son of Harry and Nellie (Rickard) Vedder. Prior to his retirement in 1990 he was employed as an accountant for the State of New York in Albany. He is survived by his son Deane Vedder; stepchildren, Linda Radesi of Mt. Morris, James (Jean) Love and John (Julie) Love, both of Groveland; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; one sister Barbara (Robert) Bowcott of Ohio; brother Eugene (Penny) Vedder of Oneonta; several nieces and nephews. Wayne A. Winter

Wayne A. Winter, 64, of Bronson Hill Road in Livonia, died Oct. 9, 2003 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born the son of Edward and Sophia Lesnick Winter on Oct. 26, 1938 in Rochester. He owned and operated Winter's Collision in Rochester. He is survived by his wife Diane; son Stephen (Kris); daughter Christine; granddaughters, Bridget and Rachel Winter; brother Edward (Rosemary); several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Friends called Monday at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., Route 15, Livonia where Funeral Services were held Tuesday. Burial, St. Michael's Cemetery in Livonia.
