Robert Berglund

World War II veteran

Wayland - Robert E. “Bob” Berglund, of 2763 State Route 21 N., passed away Oct. 7, 2004 at Nicholas H. Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. Bob was born Sept. 27, 1925 in Berkeley, Calif. the son of Briton and Caroline (Walbridge) Berglund. He spent the first few years of his life in California prior to serving his country in the Merchant Marines. Subsequent to the Merchant Marines, Bob moved to Corning, N.Y. where he met and entered into a loving marriage with Elinor Hubbard on July 9, 1946. Together they celebrated over 32 years of marriage prior to her passing away in 1979. During those years they lived in the Rochester area however the majority of his life was spent in Wayland. Bob's entire employment career was spent at Econo Products in Rochester as a print press operator. He served his country again during World War II in the United States Army. He served from Jan. 24, 1946 until he was honorably discharged on Jan. 23, 1950. During his time in the Army, Bob was a radio operator who sent and received international messages via Morse code. He was a member of the Dansville American Legion and a member of the Conesus Riding Club as evidenced by his love of riding Harley Davidsons. He frequently attended Marty's Poker Runs. He enjoyed walking and he loved his two dogs Skippy and Chipper. He is survived by his loving wife Arlene Bardeen Berglund of Wayland; his children, Janice (Norman) Yohon of Wayland, Edward (Chris Hayes) Berglund of Springwater, Robert Berglund of Florida, Cheryl (Terry) Phelps of Indiana, David Berglund of Plattsburgh, Alan Berglund of Plattsburgh, Sharon Jackson of Alfred, Charles (Janet) Bardeen of Macedon and Loretta Balde of Rochester; 24 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; his brother Briton Berglund of California; along with several nieces and nephews. Honoring Bob's request, there were no prior calling hours. Funeral Services were conducted Saturday at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 W. Naples St., Wayland with Rev. Richard Hass officiating.

Homosella L. Lowrey

Conesus resident

Homosella L. Lowrey, 89, of Railroad Ave., Conesus, died Oct. 11, 2004 at the Livingston County Skilled Nursing Facility in Geneseo. She was born the daughter of Albert and Susie Lockwood Gould on Sept. 4, 1915 in Conesus. She was a member of the Conlon-Mulvaney American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Conesus Fire Department Auxiliary and was a Volunteer for many years at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center. She was predeceased by her son Eugene and her husband Edward Lowrey. She is survived by her children, Milton (Shirley) Lowrey of Arizona, Ralph (Madonna) Lowrey of Florida, Susie (Ronald) Baylor of Conesus; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; sisters, Nellie Willis of Lakeville and Mildred Willis of Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., Route 15 in Livonia where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with theRev. David Hotchkiss officiating. Burial, Arnold Cemetery in Conesus. Friends wishing may make memorial contributions to the Conlon-Mulvaney American Legion or the Conesus Fire Department, Conesus NY 14435.
