Walter R. Howe

Eastman Kodak retiree

Walter R. Howe of Caledonia died August 19, 2004 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester at age 86. Born December 17, 1917 in Silver Springs, New York to Frank and Emily Howe. Mr. Howe was retired from Eastman Kodak in Rochester. Past Master of the Eunice Lodge #830 F.&A.M. Caledonia, and former Past Grand Patron for the Order of the Eastern Star for New York State. Mr. Howe was a Veteran of World War II and enjoyed woodworking and repairing old wood clocks. Mr. Howe is survived by his wife Althea Howe of caledonia, his children Carolyn (Ted) McKeown of Texas, Roger (Diane) Howe of Rochester. Grandchildren Aaron (Allison) Kisel, Melissa (Kenny) Mcfarlane, Elizabeth and Jessica Howe, Sister in Law Jane Crosby. Brother in Law Harland Stoddard, Niece Debbie (Richard) Miller, Nephew Rick (Debbie) McEwen. Friends and Family called on Sunday, August 22, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM with a Masonic Service conducted at 6:45 PM followed by the Eastern Star Service. At the Alhart Funeral Home 3068 West Main Street Caledonia. A Memorial Service was held on Monday, August 23, 2004 at 1 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 3080 West Main St. Caledonia. Private interment was held at the Mumford Rural Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Masonic OR Order of the Eastern Star Shcolarship Funds C/O Francis Oberer 9501 Asbury Road, LeRoy, New York 14482.

Kathryn G. Whitaker

Mt. Morris resident

Kathryn G. Whitaker, 67, of 317 Garden Lane, Mt. Morris formerly of Rochester, died Aug. 17, 2004 at the Livingston County Skilled Nursing Facility in Geneseo. She was born the daughter of Raymond and Dorothy (Mattern) Chittenden on Oct. 4, 1936 in Rochester. She worked as a house cleaner in Rochester for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Rochester. She is survived by her daughter Janice (Wayne) Ashley of Mt. Morris; one brother Gary (Mary) Chittenden of Wakkill, NY, and one sister Clare Shepard of Hornell. She is predeceased by her husbands, William Whitaker and Kenneth F. Witter Sr., son Kenneth Witter Jr. in 1963 and brother George Chittenden in 1973. No prior calling. Memorial service was held Saturday at the John W. Martin Funearl Home, 37 Chapel St. (Route 408) Mt. Morris. Memorials may be made to the Livingston County Hospice Fund or Livingston County Skilled Nursing Facility.
