James E. Dietsche

Retired school principal

James E. Dietsche, 93, a retired elementary school principal in the Elmira, N.Y. City School District, died June 26, 2004 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. Mr Dietsche resided on Servis Road in Geneseo. He is survived by his children, James (Dianna) Dietsche Jr. of Pembroke, Pa., Christina (David) Klosner of Canton, N.Y., Alan Dietsche of Geneseo, nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Servis Dietsche, his daughter Susan Dietsche, his brothers, William and Carl Dietsche. He was born Nov. 16, 1910 in Dansville, the son of William and Anna Zimmer Dietsche. He earned his Bachelors Degree at the State University of New York at Geneseo and his Masters of Science in Elementary Eduction from Alfred University. He was a member of the Genesee Valley Hunt in Geneseo, a member and former president of the SUNY Geneseo Alumni Association, a member of both the New York State Retired Teachers Association, and the Livingston County Historical Society. He was also a member of th 121st Cavalry. Visitation was held Tuesday at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Funeral Mass was held June 30 at St. Mary's Church in Geneseo with Father Daniel McMullin officiating. Burial, Temple Hill Cemetery in Geneseo. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church, 4 Avon Road, Geneseo, N.Y. 14454 or the Geneseo Foundation, SUNY Geneseo, Erwin 202, Geneseo, N.Y. 14454-1485.

 

Lewy R. Pragle

Laminex retiree

Lewy R. Pragle, 85 of Big Tree Road in Livonia, died June 22, 2004 at his home after a brief illness. He was born the son of Robert and Iva Smith Pragle on July 23, 1918 in Springwater. He was a retiree of Laminex in Honeoye. He was predeceased by his wife Caroline on Feb. 23, 2004. He was a member of the Dansville Moose Club and the Hemlock Sportsman's Club. He is survived by his children, Arlene (Wayne) Kurelko, Donna Jean (William) Springer, Iva (Norbert) Johnson, Richard (Cathy) Pragle and Charlotte (Dave Elderkin) Northrup; 12 grandchildren and 14 great granchildren; sisters, Leona Simons, Nina Meyers, Rita Cucinotta, Vivian Marlin, Dorothy Scott; Roger, Roy, John, Julian and Gene, several nieces and nephews. No prior calling. Friends attended memorial services Friday at the Springwater Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Metz officiating.
