James R. Beavers

James R. Beavers, age 73 yr. died June 6, 2001 at his home in Caledonia after a short illness. He was born December 11, 1927 in Rochester to Raymond and Heloise (Nixon) Beavers. James was a millman supervisor for Axelrod Wood Products in Rochester until his retirement. After retirement James worked for PJ's Used Cars & Auto Parts in Caledonia. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lorraine (Tindall) Beavers, children; Marie (Dale) Snyder, Albion, James M. Beavers, Caledonia, Kathleen A. Beavers, Bath, four grandchildren; Anita and Tiffany Snyder, and Megan and Timothy Beavers, sister; Barbara (Richard) Cole, Penfield, brother; Edward (Helen) Beavers, Palmyra, many nieces and nephews. Friends called Saturday, June 9, 2-4 and 6-8 pm with his Funeral Service graveside service was held on Sunday, June 10 at 4 pm at Transit Cemetery, Albion. Harriet “Betty” E. Brick (Adamson)

Harriet “Betty” E. Brick (Adamson), 78, of Delray Beach Florida and Rochester, died June 10, 2001 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born the daughter of Samuel J. and Matilda (Culley) Adamson on Feb. 26, 1923 in Groveland. She was employed at Craig Developmental Center in Sonyea for 10 years until her retirement in 1974. She was a member of the Loyal order of the Moose in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She is survived by three children, Mary (Richard) Raz of Rochester, Samuel (Yolanda) Brick of Arizona and James (Debbie) Brick of Batavia; 12 grandchildren Michalene, Jennifer, Nathan, Renee, Samuel, Rachel, Aaron, Tara, Vincent, Kari, Tammy and Kimberly; three great grandchildren, Melanie, Sasha and Madison; one sister Ellen Hencinski of Buffalo; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Barbara Casper in 2001, son-in-law Jerome Casper in 1991 and three brothers Robert, Charles and Sam Adamson. Friends called Monday at the JOHN W. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 37 Chapel St., Mt. Morris where funeral services were also held Monday with Pastor Edward Phillips officiating. Burial, Lakeview Cemetery in Groveland. Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.

Martha Pickard Bryant

Martha Pickard Bryant, 78, of 2437 Ridge Road, Mt. Morris, died June 10, 2001 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. She was born the daughter of Wayne and Grace (Redmond) Pickard on April 15, 1923. She was currently employed for over 50 years at Dansville Dental Professionals as a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Keshequa Golf Club in Sonyea and the Wednesday Morning Bowling League at Mt. Morris Lanes. She is survived by three children, Carol (Tom) Roffe of Canisteo, Cynthie (Randy) Luehman of Dalton and Lt. Col. Mark C. (Deborah) Bryant of Tullahoma, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Danielle Roffe of Queens, N.Y., Heather Roffe of Rochester, Marlee Luehman and Kari Luehman, both of Maine, Raena, Tori and Glenn Bryant, all of Tennessee; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond “Stub” Bryant in 2000 and two brothers, Howard and Robert Pickard. Friends may call Friday 6-8 and Saturday 1-3 at the family home at 2437 Ridge Road, Mt. Morris where funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Morris Ambulance Fund or the American Heart Association. Arrangements by the John W. William J. Caputo, Jr.

William J. Caputo, Jr. age 28 died suddenly June 3, 2001 at his home in Rochester. He was born the son of William and Elaine Caputo, Sr. on July 29, 2001 in Rochester, NY. He was a Navy Veteran and a graduate of Livonia Central School. He is survived by his parents William and Elaine Caputo, Sr. of Livonia. His brother Joseph Caputo of Lakeville. Maternal grandmother Tess Jackson of Florida, paternal grandmother Jane (Jim) McGuire of Rochester, paternal grandfather Veto Caputo of Bath, NY. Several aunts, uncles and cousins. Evelyn M. Gates

Evelyn M. Gates, 81, retired from the cafeteria staff at York Central School in Retsof, died June 7, 2001 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She lived on Dow Road in York. She is survived by her husband Ernest; her children, Carol (John) Taylor of Fowlerville, Thomas (Sharon) Gates of York, Laura Jeanne (Raymond) Paulsen of Waterloo, N.Y., Norman Gates of York, Joyce (Robert ) Hoppough of Honeoye, Linda (Thomas) Kinney of Chicago, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was born March 20, 1920, in York, the daughter of Edgar and Elizabeth (Fitzsimmons) Barnes. She was a member of the Covington United Presbyterian Church, York Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the York-Leicester Senior Citizens. Visitation was held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Saturday. Donald Alan Goossens

Donald Alan Goossens age 61 died suddenly June 5, 2001 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. He was born the son of Frank and Esther Bettis Goossens on October 26, 1939 in Rochester, NY. Don was a New York State Trooper for 31 years before retiring in 1997. He was a member of the NYS Retired Troopers Association, the P.B.A. Police Benevolent Association and he was a former member of the Avon Ambulance. He was also an Air Force Veteran. He is survived by his fiance Katrina Mayer of Leicester, his children Mark (Melissa) Goossens of MA, Wade (Cheryl) Goossens of NC, Don (Beth) Phelps of NC, Beth (John) Kingston of Franklinville, NY. 12 Grandchildren, brothers Harvey Goossens and Terrence Goossens. Friends called on Thursday 7-9, Friday 2-4, 7-9 at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc. Route 15, Livonia. His funeral service was held Saturday 1pm at the Lakeville United Church of Christ with the Rev. Lauri Craig and Rev. Bob Hathaway officiating. Burial Union Cemetery, Livonia. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Avon Ambulance Fund, Avon, NY 14414.

Margaret L. Kuhn

Margaret L. Kuhn, 90, formerly of 15 Clay Street, Dansville died Tuesday June 12, 2001 at the LeRoy Village Green in LeRoy where she resided the 3 years. Margaret was born July 27, 1910 in Dansville the daughter of Charles and Mary Marx Mader residing her early life in Dansville and resided in Wayland for 29 years prior to moving back to Dansville in 1970. She married Leonard P. Kuhn in Dansville on April 15, 1937 and he predeceased her in 1965. She was a Communicant of both St. Mary's Church in Dansville and a past Communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Wayland and a past member of the Altar Rosary Society. Margaret was a past member of the Home Bureau. Margaret is survived by 3 daughters; Carol (David) Genova of Rochester, Sister Barbara Kuhn, S.S.J. of Rochester and Mary Lou (Dennis) Chapman of Caledonia. 5 Grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. 1 Brother; Charles Mader of Tuson, Ariz. and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 Thursday at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Prayer Services will be conducted in the Funeral Home 10:15 am Friday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Joseph's Church Wayland. Internment St. Joseph's Cemetery. Jacqueline Kelsey Milliman

Jacqueline Kelsey Milliman, 73, of Prattsburgh, died May 29, 2001, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan, N.Y. after a long illness. She is survived by sons, David of Middlesex, N.Y., Daniel of Boston, Mass., and daughter, Julia Manheim of Interlaken, N.Y. In addition, she is survived by sister, Betty Smith of Groveland and brother, Robert (Donna) Kelsey of Geneseo; grandchildren, Peter, Amanda, Michael, Amy and Kelsey; several nieces and nephews. Jackie was predeceased by her husband, Barry Milliman, her sister, Jean Adamson of Groveland and her parents, William Alvin and Marion Gretchen Kelsey of Geneseo. A memorial service was held in Prattsburgh on June 2. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

John A. Neuhaus

John A. Neuhaus, 42, died suddenly Friday, June 8, 2001 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Groveland, NY. Mr. Neuhaus was a Geneseo resident at the time of his death. He is survived by his mother, Grace Neuhaus of Geneseo, children Arlene (Alfred) Nickerson of Dansville, NY, Dee Neuhaus of Dansville, NY, Johnny Neuhaus of Massena, NY, David Neuhaus of Batavia, NY, Nathan Neuhaus of Batavia, NY, Danielle Neuhaus of Batavia, NY, grandson, Alfred Nickerson Jr. of Dansville, NY, fiance Tina Sherwood of Geneseo, NY, brother Norman Neuhaus of Jupiter, FL, sisters Catherine Leach of Retsof, NY, Dorothy (David) Smith of Mt. Morris, NY, Arlene Neuhaus of Rochester, NY, Linda (Jim) Clark of West Palm Beach, FL, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Neuhaus in 1980 and his granddaughter, Jodi Nickerson in 2001. He was born August 11, 1958 in Batavia, NY the son of Arthur and Grace (Koch) Neuhaus. Visitation was held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Groveland Fire Department, P.O. Box 49, Groveland, NY 14462. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 13, 2001 at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home with Rev. Neil Frood of the York United Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in York.
