James E. Bell

Former Mt. Morris resident

James E. Bell, 95 of 3234 Pignatelli Crescent, Mt. Pleasant, SC, formerly of 8 Case St., Mt. Morris, died March 24, 2004 at Roper Hospital in Chaleston, SC. He was born the son of John and Mae (McKee) Bell on Feb. 18, 1909 in Perry, NY. Prior to his retirement he was employed at SUNY Geneseo, Curtis-Burns in Leicester and Star Market. He was a former member of St. Patrick's Church in Mt. Morris. He was predeceased by his wife Rose (Annalaora) Bell in 1975. He is survived by his son John (Charlene) Bell of SC; four grandchildren, James (Pamel) Bell of Ohio, John Bell of Pennslyvania, David (Lora) of SC, and Mary Bell of Texas; four great grandchildren, Rachel, Jonathan, Nicholas and Luke Bell and two step great grandchildren, Calvin and Jacob Williams; nieces and nephews. No prior calling. Prayers were said Saturday at the John W. Martin Funeral Home, 37 Chapel St. (Route 408), Mt. Morris which were followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Patrick's Church. Alfonso C. Bellanca

Geneseo resident

Alfonso C. Bellanca, 76, retired from Lapp Insulators in LeRoy, died March 25, 2004 at the Livingston County Skilled Nursing facilty in Geneseo. Mr. Bellanca resided on Center St. in Geneseo. He is survived by his wife Joan Martello Bellanca; daughter Jo Ann (Gary) Valentino of Mt. Morris; son Michael (Carol) Bellanca of Spokane, Wash.; grandchildren, Kristie Valentino of Wichita, Kan., Chad (Stephanie) Valentino of Leicester; great grandchildren, Brooke and Brennan Valentino of Leicester; sisters, Jennie Andolina and Lena Piraino, both of Mt. Morris, Grace (Anthony) Munto of Rochester; brothers, Louis (Julia) Bellanca and Phillip (Margaret) Bellanca, both of Hornell; many nieces and nephews. He was born Aug. 3, 1927 in Mt. Morris the son of Gaetano and Michelina (Cordia) Bellanca. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Geneseo American Legion Post, American Legion Post #1830 in Chili, and a former member of the Geneseo Kiwanis Club. No prior calling hours. Funeral Mass was held March 31 at St. Mary's Church in Geneseo with Father Daniel McMullin officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Peter C. Costanzo

Geneseo resident

Peter C. Costanzo, 89, a retired supervisor of quality control at the Pfaudler Company in Leroy, died March 24, 2004 at the Livingston County Skilled Nursing Facility in Geneseo. Mr. Costanzo resided on Haley Ave. in Geneseo prior to his entry into the nursing home. He is survived by his daughter Mary Ann Shepard of Geneseo; grandchildren, Roger Shepard of Lockport, Mark (Janelle) Shepard of Geneseo, David Costanzo of Texas, Patricia Costanzo of Avon; six great grandchildren, two sisters, Sally Viscardi and Josephine Costanzo, both of Rochester; daughter-in-law Pat Costanzo of Avon; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Lucy Diliberto Costanzo and his son Guy Costanzo. He was born March 26, 1914 in Rochester the son of Gaetano and Mary (Lombardo) Costanzo. He was an alumnus ofRochester Institute of Technology. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, St. Mary's Adoration Society and St. Mary's Men's Club. Visitation was held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Monday. Funeral Mass was held on March 30 at St. Mary's Church in Geneseo with Father Daniel McMullin officiating. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo. Memorials may be made to the Livingston County Skilled Nursing Facility Activites Fund, 4600 Millennium Dr., Geneseo, NY, 14454.

Elizabeth Frye

Nazareth Baptist Church member

Leicester - Elizabeth Frye, 97, died on March 24, 2004 at the Livingston County Skilled Nursing Facility in Mt. Morris. She was born on Feb. 12, 1907 in Madison County, Va., the daughter of Hubert Kilby and malinda (Green) Kilby. She was a member of the Nazareth Baptist church and enjoyed cooking, gardening, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Morris C. Frye and son Morris Frye, Jr. She is survived by her children, James r. frye of Rochester, marie Frye of Perry, Malinda (Bobby) Wilson of Avon, Julia Morris of Rochester, Ernest L. (Judy) Frye of Geneseo; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Otis (Louise) Kilby, and Otha Kilby; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Kilby, Rebecca Kilby, all of Virginia; several nieces and nephews. Friends called Friday at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc. , 350 Genesee St. in Avon where her Funeral Service was held Saturday with the Rev. Larry Beman officiating. Interment, Leicester Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Nazareth Baptist Church, 5002 State Mill Rd., P.O. Box 34A, Boston, Va. 22713 in her memory.

Margaret Eleanor Nelson

Caledonia resident

Margaret Eleanor Nelson, 62, of Caledonia joined her husband, Melvin Franklin Nelson on March 17, 2004. She was born March 23, 1941 in rochester to John Richard and Eleanor (Jackson) Majors. Margaret worked for Chloride Networks, Caledonia; Livingston County Sheriff's Department and was currently employed by Sabin Metal Corporation as a security guard. In 1978, she became the first and only woman of color to join forces with the Caledonia Fire Department and was a volunteer ambulance attendant for over 12 years. She also volunteered in the community on various projects throughout the years. Margaret was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Mumford. She was very talented with hand crafts, especially crocheting, needle point and cross stitch, but her passion was sewing and quilting. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Brenda and Joseph Davis of Rochester, Dora williams; sons and daughter-in-law, James and Brenda Nelson, Franklin Nelson, all of Caledonia; six grandchildren, several godchildren; sisters-in-law, Edna and Karen Majors; stepmother, Lora Majors; several nieces and nephews. Friends called March 20 at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 W. Main St., Caledonia. Her Funeral Service was held March 22 at the Second Baptist Church, Mumford, Interment was held at Mumford Rural Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Caledonia Ambulance, P.O. Box 3, Caledonia, NY 14423.

George F. Smith

Caledonia resident

George F. Smith, age 53 of Caledonia died March 26, 2004 at his home in Caledonia. He was born October 14, 1950 in Rochester, NY to James and Dorothy (Kuhn) Smith. George worked as a farmer for Zornow Farms, Caledonia. He is survived by his sister, Judy Green of Caledonia; brother, Henry Smith of Conesus; several nieces and nephews. Friends called Sunday, March 28 at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 W. Main Street Caledonia. A private interment will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, York.
