Leo J. Belanger

Leo J. Belanger, 90, of 11858 Granger Road in Wayland, died March 6, 2002, at the McAuley Manor in Hornell, after a long illness. He was born June 26, 1911 in Caribou, Maine the son of Joseph and Elise Thibodau Belanger. He married the former Dina Cote in Sacred Heart Church, Perkinsville, on Nov. 13, 1933. They moved to Wayland in 1941. Leo owned and operated his own farm and real estate business. He retired in 1973. Leo was the Town of Wayland supervisor for 19 years. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He was predeceased by his wife Dina; two grandsons, Todd and Dirk Pragel, five brothers, Edward, Arthur, Vernon, Euclid, and Henry. He is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Julian) Pragel of Hunt and Cheryl (John) McNelis of Caledonia; 11 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother Lucian Belanger of Buffalo; two sisters, Irene O'Neal of Wayland and Lydia Beaupre of Turlock, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Belanger of Wayland and Roland Belanger of Arkport; several nieces and nephews. Friends called March 8 at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 W. Naples St. in Wayland. A prayer service was held Saturday in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Wayland.

Marilyn A. Coleman

Marilyn A. Coleman (Campbell) age 55 of East Lake Road, Livonia, died Sunday March 10, 2002 at Highland Hospital in Rochester. She was born the daughter of Roger and Ruth Becker Vanderbrook on November 7, 1946. She was an employee of Element K in Rochester as a technical writer and was a former administrator of the University of Rochester. She is survived by her husband William Coleman of Livonia, her brothers Roger (Sharlene) Vanderbrook) of Livonia and Steven (Gail) Vanderbrook of Newark . Sister in law Rosemary Coleman of Greece and brother in law Robert Coleman of Livonia. Several nieces and nephews. Friends called Tuesday at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc. in Livonia. Her funeral mass was held Wednesday at St. Joseph's Church, Livonia with the Rev. John Hayes officiating. Burial St. Michael's Cemetery, Livonia. Gary L. Comfort

Gary L. “Gumby” Comfort, 46, a billing clerk for Genesee and Wyoming Railroad, died suddenly, March 5, 2002, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Mr. Comfort resided in Wadsworth. His is survived by his wife Joyce Landers Comfort; sister Joanne (Nate) Guzzardi of Mt. Morris; two brothers, James (Jeanette) Comfort of Kansas City, MO, Mark (Teri) Comfort of Wadsworth; his mother Rhea (George) Root of Livonia; nieces and nephews including Beamer Guzzardi, Jennifer Guzzardi, Joe Bauer, Zach Landers and Rachel Green; father-in-law and mother-in-law George and Eleanor Landers; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George (Tracy) Landers of Mooresville, N.C., Mike (Cindy) Landers of Geneseo, Jim Landers of Pavilion, Barb Landers of Alden, Pam Bauer of Elba; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father Leo Comfort. He was born Nov. 17, 1955, in Warsaw, N.Y., the son of Leo and Rhea (Stone) Comfort. Visitation was held at Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo March 7. Memorials may be made to the family c/o P.O. 138, York NY 14592. Funeral services were held March 8 at Rector-Hicks Funeral home with family friend Judy Sattora officiating. Burial, Pleasant Valley Cemetery in York.

Douglas G. Hicks

Douglas G. Hicks, York, died March 4, 2002 at age 51. He is survived by his wife, Gretchen; his children, Todd (Susan) Hicks, Sarah Hicks and Rebecca (John) Bucci; granddaughter, Emma Hicks; and mother, Ruth Hicks. No prior calling hours. Memorial services Thursday 11 a.m. at the York United Presbyterian Church. Robert A. Hurlburt

Robert A. Hurlburt, age 75 of Green Village Drive, Lima died Friday March 8, 2002 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born the son of Harry and Elsie Palmateer Hurlburt on March 3, 1927 in Naples, NY. He was an employee of Wegmans in Rochester. He was a member of the West Bloomfield Congregational Church. He was predeceased by his wife Marion in 2000. He is survived by his daughter Carol Arnold and Linda (Asa Burton) Moss all of Lima. 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Sisters Cherrie Erb and Laura Hurlburt of Stanley. Several nieces and nephews. No prior calling. Friends attended a Memorial service Sunday at the West Bloomfield Congregational Church with the Rev. Dorothy McCaughey Oliver

Dorothy McCaughey Oliver, 82, died Saturday, march 09, 2002 at the Wyoming County Community Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw where she had been a resident since 1994. Mrs. Oliver was previously from Retsof. She is survived by her son Frederick (Mary) Oliver of Kitty Hawk, NC, grandchildren Eric (Amanda) Fish of Atlanta, GA, Tammy Walker of Dansville great grandchildren Tarryn, Brandon and Bryce all of Dansville, sister in law Margaret McCaughey of Geneseo. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Oliver in 1993. Dorothy was born August 12, 1919 in Rochester, NY the daughter of Robert and Martha (Belle) McCaughey. She was a graduate of Geneseo High School. No prior calling hours. Memorials may be made to Spiritual Life Volunteers c/o Wyoming County Community Skilled Nursing Facility, 400 North Main St., Warsaw, NY 14569. Private Funeral Service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in York.

Mary L. O'Brien

Mary L. O'Brien, 92, of Caledonia died March 10, 2002, at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home, LeRoy. She was born Nov. 9, 1909 in Caledonia to Charles and Anna (Keenan) O'Brien. Mary devoted her life to taking care of her family and worked in the Caledonia-Mumford High School Cafeteria for many years. She was a member of the Rosary Society at St. Columba Church, and enjoyed bowling. She is survived by her sister, Helen Snyder of Alabama, NY; niece, Donna (Larry) Coughlin of Greenville, TN, nephews, Robert (Betty Jane) Pullyblank, Donald (Vonnie) Pullyblank, both of Caledonia, Charles (Kate) O'Brien, Patrick (MaryJane) O'Brien, both of Albany; many grandnieces and grandnephews. Mary's sister, Anna O'Brien Pullyblank, and brothers, Francis and Thomas O'Brien predecease her. No prior calling hours. Friends attended her Funeral Mass, Wednesday, at St. Columba Church. Interment at St. Columba Cemetery, Caledonia. Memorials may be made to the Caledonia Ambulance, P.O. Box 1, Caledonia, NY 14423.
