John C. McCanna

John C. McCanna, age 56, fell asleep in death, at home, on December 10, 2000, after a long illness. Husband of Angie, father of John C. (Karen) McCanna Jr; Michael R. (Heidi) McCanna; Neil W. (Sue) Dehmler; and Chad J. (Conchi) Dehmler. Grandfather of Tonya M., John C. III, Kelly , Zachary, Matthew, Michael, Dar N., Jessie, Rachael, Emily, and Chris. Son of John R. and Ruth M. McCanna. Brother of Jayne (Phil) Pfluke; Millie (Gene) Pragle; and Diane (Pete) Spencer. Uncle of Lorie (Tony) Torres; Joseph (Kay) Pfluke; Robert (Lisa) McDonald; and Terry (Ed) LeBar; Leslie; Jenny; Jessie; Katie; Carrie; Stephanie; and Jason. Nephew of Stanley and Julia Chittenden of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; and Mildred Huber of Auburn, N.Y. Cousin of James Acker, also of Auburn. John went to school at Livonia Central and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a hardworking man, skilled in many trades. He enjoyed time with his family; also hunting, fishing, and old time country music and yard-saling. His recent interest was Elvis Presley Jr., and his music. John is remembered for his jovial sense of humor and his caring attitude toward everyone he knew. He will be greatly missed by family and many friends.


Charles I. Briggs

Charles I. Briggs age 94 of Rochester formerly of Honeoye died Sunday January 21, 2001 at Hill Crest Manor Nursing Home in Penfield. He was born the son of Harry and Lillian Staley Briggs on July 20, 1906 in Richmond, NY. He was a general at Eastman Kodak Co. and was a member of the Honeoye Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife Letah, his sons John (Betty) Briggs of IN, James (Joan) Briggs of Honeoye. Grandchildren Timothy, Robert, James Jr., Jason Briggs, Julie Eaten, and Dawn Becker. 9 Grandchildren. Friends may call Wednesday 12 to 2 pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., Briggs Street, Honeoye where services will follow calling at 2 pm. Burial Lakeview Cemetery, Honeoye. At the families request flowers are gratefully declined and friends wishing may make memorial contributions to a local charity of ones choice.

Charles W. Farrell

Charles W. Farrell of O'Neill Road, died peacefully at Highland Hospital in Rochester at age 86 surrounded by his family, 10 days before his 87th birthday. He was born January 30, 1914 in Caledonia, NY one of 16 children born to Judson and Mary Englerth Farrell. Charlie was a lifetime dairy farmer and spent many happy hours training his teams of horses. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Elise, his daughters Mary (Frank) McGowan, Theresa (Pat) O'Hanlon, Jeanette (Ronald) Bryant, sons Edward (Peg) Farrell, Phillip (Barb) Farrell and Jim (Sue) Farrell. 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Sister Patricia (Carl) Treat, sister in law Millie Farrell. Several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Tuesday 2-4, 7-9 at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc. Route 15, Livonia. His funeral mass will be held Wednesday 10am at Saint Mary's Church, Honeoye with the Rev. Edward Zenkel officiating. Burial St. Michael's Cemetery, Livonia. Dorothy E. (Grant) Irving

Dorothy E. Irving age 84 yr. of Caledonia died January 20, 2001 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester after a short illness. She was born January 27, 1916 in Caledonia to Peter and Edna (Hare) Grant. Dorothy enjoyed reading and gardening. She is survived by her daughters; Marion Mitchell, Caledonia, Joan Irving, Rochester, Eloise (Robert) Stevens, LeRoy, sons; Melvin Irving, Caledonia, Joe and Robert Irving, Rochester, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law; Raymond and Midge Grant, Caledonia, sister Irene (John) Barber, Perry, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by husband , John Irving, sisters Catherine Grant and Rita Arrigenna, and brother Edward Grant. Friends may call Wednesday, 2-4, 7-9pm at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 West Main St., Caledonia. Funeral Mass, Thursday, 11 am at St. Columba Church, Caledonia. Robert Joseph Koch, Sr.

Robert Joseph Koch Sr., 80, a retired farmer for Albert Koch and Sons Farm in Leicester, died Friday, January 19, 2001 at the Livingston County S.N.F. in Geneseo, NY. Mr. Koch lived on Restof Ave. In Restof, NY before his admission into the Skilled Nursing Facility. He is survived by his wife Marian Sherry Koch, 3 sons Fred (Frances) Koch of Geneseo, NY, Robert (Julie) Koch Jr. of Leicester, NY Michael (Kelly) Koch of Piffard, NY, daughter Shirley (George) Galo of VA, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, brother Joseph (Kay) Koch of Leicester, NY, sister Catherine (Joseph) Baker of Scotia, NY, 1 aunt, 1 uncle, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was born March 2, 1920 in Plainview, Nebraska the son of Albert and Rose (Getsfred) Koch. Bob was a member of St. Thomas/St. Lucy's Parish and American Legion Post 107 in Leicester. He enlisted in the US Army January 3, 1942 in Rochester, NY serving until his discharge on December 6, 1945. During his enlistment he earned the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, American Service Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal. He also served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Visitation will be held at the Rector Hicks Funeral Home 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Sunday Jan. 21, 2001 from 2-4, 7-9pm. Memorials may be made to Restof Ambulance Box 92 Restof, NY 14539. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, January 22, 2001 at 9:30 am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Leicester with Father George Okoth officiating. Burial will be in the Leicester Cemetery, in Leicester, NY.

Frances J. Lewis

Frances J. Lewis, 82, died peacefully Jan. 19, 2001, at the Teresa House in Geneseo, after a long illness. She was born the daughter of Frank and Lena Scorscone LePome on June 29, 1918, in Jamestown, N.Y. She and her husband Gerald ran the Lewis General Store in Lakeville for many years until closing in 1972. She was predeceased by her daughter Mary Jane Murphy in 1987. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Gerald; grandchildren, Colleen (Sam) DiPasquale of Avon, Brenda (Eric) Kelly of Perry, William Murphy Jr., Gerald (Colleen) Murphy of Avon, SSGT Chad (Julie) Murphy of Florida; seven great grandchildren; son-in-law William (Linda) Murphy of Avon; sisters, Tena (Don) Meagher of California, Maryanne (Bert) Strassheim of New Jersey, Betty Rhodes of Avon; brother Dominic (Sandra) LePome of Texas; several nieces and nephews. Friends called Monday at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., Route 15, Livonia. Her Funeral Mass was held Tuesday at St. Joseph's Church, Livonia with the Rev. John H. Hayes officiating. Jane M. Mistretta

Jane M. Mistretta, 72, of 12 Columbus Ave., Mt. Morris, died Jan. 22, 2001 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. She was born the daughter of Samuel and Emily (Johnson) Jackson on Sept. 26, 1928 in Tuscarora, N. Y. She is survived by her husband James; 4 children, Kathy D. Hadsell of Mt. Morris, Gary Mistretta of Wayland, Terry (Joanne) Mistretta and Lisa (Michael) Flickner both of Mt. Morris; 3 grandchildren Wayne, Ashlee and Phillip; 4 sisters, Charlotte Strobel of Tuscarora, Elizabeth (Wilson) Rittenhouse of Dalton, Ruth (Ken) Barney of Dalton and Emily Wilcox of Nunda; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Delmer and Vernon Jackson. Friends may called Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the JOHN W. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 37 Chapel St. (Route 408) Mt. Morris where her Memorial Service will be held Wednesday at 8 pm with the Rev. Richard Hepler officiating. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Margarita E. Walkley

Margarita E. Walkley age 90 died suddenly January 20, 2001 as the result of a motor vehicle accident. She was born the daughter of Glenn and Edith Webster McNinch on September 19, 1910 in Conesus, NY. She was a member of the Golden Agers Club in Conesus, a member of the Conland-Mulvaney Ladies Auxiliary in Conesus, the Conesus Historical Society and the Springwater Historical Society. She taught school in the Aleghany School District in her earlier days and was a member of the former Conesus Community Church. She was predeceased by her husband Daniel E. Walkley in 1977. She is survived by her children Edith (Thomas) Towlin of GA, Brenda (Donald) Haywood of Springwater, Daniel (Kay) Walkley of Conesus and Elizabeth Walkley of Conesus. 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Brother Melvin (Eleanor) McNinch of Conesus. Several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday 2-4, 7-9 at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc. Route 15, Livonia, where her funeral service will be held Thursday 11am with the Rev. Larry Wigden officiating. Burial Arnold Cemetery, Conesus.
